Well should I start a new thread NAH...
Anyways been laying low with the mustang for awhile, however I started on a new project with it over the weekend. I plan on completely redoing the interior of my baby. My plan is to completly convert the grey over to an all black interior with some silver highlights to go with my theme. Some parts I plan on using:
3 guage Din delete panel, filled with 3 autometer guages not sure which ones yet...
Infinity Kappa 5.25" componet Speakers up front...
Infinity Kappa 5"x7" 2 way speakers in the rear...
A custom sub set up in the trunk, with 2 Pioneer Amps to power it all...
New shift knob, and leather shift boot for both ebrake and shifter.
I also plan on getting my seats re-apolstered in black leather or vinyl with silver highlights and a running pony, and I am looking for all the black interior pieces. Black carpet with embroidered floor mats will also be added to the car.
Here are the pictures of what has happened so far. Plan on working on it whenever I have time, and I hope to have it finished by the start of this years show season. Any coments or suggestions are welcomed.

Wow, looks just like my Vette about a year ago Kinda sux that your car is only a '98 and its time to change the interior. How readily available will it be to find the new door panels, dash board, and all that mess. Or is that stuff already on the way?
Boy, I bet your mom is really loving that mess in her garage. I remember how she freaked out when you had rust filings on the floor from sawing off your exhaust. Could this be the end of Jeremy as we know it?

It may just be the end of me. All the parts are chilling down in the basement right now. I will probally end up selling htem on ebay to help finance this project.
As for all the door panals and dashboard and stuff I am in contact with a guy on the internet that is parting out his 97 cobra with black interior so I am going to try and get most of those parts from him. If not I will start hunting around junk yards, the parts are easy to find, just need to find ones in good shape.
My interior really wasnt that bad, the seats were starting to get a little worn, but no rips or cracks. All the panals are in near mint condition, the carpet though was horrible. Who ever owned it before me didnt take good care of it at all. The biggest reason I am doing the swap is for looks and style. When I orginally purchased the car I had wanted the black interior but didnt find one that I liked. So that is why I am doing the swap, not so much that it needs it, but becuase It should give the car a whole new and better look. Next up when this is done is all the body work it needs. I am hoping for a late summer or next winter start on that project.

do your self a favor and save the extra money and re do the seats in LEATHER....if you do it in vinyl you will kick your self later.....take your time and do shit right.....if your gonna spend all this money on it....don't half ass anything....make it look good unlike those things you painted on your door panels....
looks like your making good progress.....i can't even imagine what your mom is thinking right now tho....
i have a better one then the rust fillings....she got pissed off that day cuz the dogs ran through the mulch and tracked it into the garage....haha

I have seen too many interiors of out cars in the past year and I get to do it to mine once I get it back. Looks good so far, just make sure you label all the crap to get it back in. Nothing like coming back to a project after 6 months and wondering "Where the hell does this go???"

Well here is an update, I found a guy online willing to sell me a complete 1997 cobra vert black interior for 800$ shipped. I believe it comes with everything minus the seats and the carpet, I told him I didnt want those. So I think I am sending him 100$ tomorow to hold it for me, still waiting to hear back, and then I will pay him the rest when I sell my interior. As for the seats I am all most posative I am going to go with the leather, just got to check out my resources. But so far the project is coming along nice, and if this interior works out from this guy then I will be like 65% done (parts wise). The carpet came in yesterday, so I will probally start to put that in soon, hopefully I wont have to cut any holes in it like we had to do to mikes. I cant wait to get this all finished up, It should give the car a whole new look. Oh and steve everything is in little baggies and labled, didnt want to forget what went were. As for my mom she hasnt been down stairs yet, she saw the pile in the garage when we were only half way done ripping out the interior, so she said she was scared to go down there and look.

You'll definately have to cut the carpet, just not around any roll cage. But just like Mike said. TAKE YOUR TIME. No sense getting all these pieces and rushing it to get it back on the road and it looks like a real piece of shit. Hopefully you will be happy with the new look after this. How did you find that dude on the net? Hopefully he's not out to scam you.

Well Tom if I have to cut it I may have to have you over seeing as you are the master carpet installer. I found him on one of the message boards I post on. He parts out mustangs as a hobby, and he has a pretty good reputation. I talked to him on the phone last night, and he said he has bought over 100 mustangs this year, and he said this is the only black convertable interior he has come across. Aparently it was a rare rare option in the convertables. I plan on taking my time with everything, my ultimate goal is to get it done by car weekend or the first car show of the season which ever comes first. But I plan on doing it all right and not half assing it, that is why I am putting all new speakers in, I will probally lay down some dynomat redoing all the wiring ect. This is the last time that I want to rip my interior out for a while, so it will be done right this time.

Little update:
I have sourced a full black interior from a 1997 cobra convertable from a guy in kentucky. The interior is out of a lightly wrecked car that the guy is parting out. All pieces are in mint shape. I will be getting the entire interior minus the seats and the carpet. He said the seats werent really worth it. It is going to cost me 900$ + my grey airbags for everything, which is kind of high, but I am hoping to recoupe at least 50% of that by selling my old pieces. I should be cutting the guy a check either today or tomorow, and should hopefully have the parts in a week or two. I will keep you all updated on the progress. Now I just need to get all of my speaker stuff in line, and I can begin to install everything. Everything else I want to add is detail work, and can be added latter. Still dont know too much about the seats yet, will have to see what money looks like in a month or two. I will post some more pictures of progress as soon as I have them.

Well here is an update for you...
New dash is in minus alot of wiring.. I removed all of the old speaker wiring harnesses, through out the whole car. I have also started to run new speaker wire and signal cables for the amp. So far so good. Next project will probally be to mount and hook all the speakers up in the car. The project is coming along nice, but has been a real pain in the ass. I so cant wait to get it done. I have a couple of pictures of the dash and stuff out of the car I will post all of that later, but for the time being here are some pictures of all of my new audio equipment....
Kicker KX700.5 amp... (This is the backbone of the whole system, It is 5 chanels so it will power all of my speakers plus my subs)
Kicker K57.2 (Front Speakers)
Kicker K5.2 (Rear Speakers)
I went with these components becuase 1, I could purchase them locally so if I have an issue I can easily return them, and 2 becuase they will fit into all of my stock speaker locations with little to no modification. I have run a 4guage power wire to the rear of the car, along with grounding my battery with a 4 guage wire to the frame. I will be using 16 and 18 guauge speaker cable, and 3 twisted pair RCA cables. It should sound hot when completed....
All of this stuff should hopefully be installed in the next week or two. At that point the rest of the interior will start to go back in. I so cant wait to get this finished....

Finishing up unhooking of wiring harnesses to remove old dash....

Josh's thoughts on the whole project....
Got alot of detail work done on the car this weekend:
- Custom made brakets to install new tweeters into stock location.
- Installed front speakers into doors ran all wires to rear of car.
- Created a simpler wiring harness for the head unit and temperarly wired it to the car. Will permenately attach it when I know everything works right.
- Cleaned up alot of wiring messes.
All the wiring in the car is now soldered and covered in heat shrink, and zipped tied out of the way for a very clean install. Not to self to pick up soldering iron by the shiny end....
Still waiting on my amp to test everything out. As soon as that gets here everything should start to go back into the car.
As for seats i found this place online www.autoleathers.com this site allows me to custome create new seat covers they make them and either ship them to me to install or will ship them to a shop to install. Right now it is looking like 700$ for me to install and 800$ for a shop to install. So I will be ording these sometime soon hopefully. Got to start selling my old stuff on ebay.
Oh well car is making progress I so cant wait to get it all done..

If my amp is in this week, I am thinking that maybe this sunday will be carpet day. If not it will be next weekend... I think the carpet and dsigning the sub box are my only two big hurdles left...

looks like a lot of work jeremy but im sure it will be worth it in the end atleast things are beginning to come along pretty well. i was looking for a place to embroider mazdaspeed into my headrests i think that would look pretty sweet
