Well, made a little more progress today with actually putting the car back together. Got the differential installed and the luggage rack and brackets onto the rear of the car. It was actually a pretty painless install but you have to get a little nervous when you start drilling into the body. But, here's the way it looks now:

The chrome luggage rack really accents the the rest of the chrome on the Vette. I would have been nervous drilling into my car, too, because I know I would be the first one to f-it-up. Now, Tom, can I plan to see luggage on that rack going down to car weekend? _________________ '95 Trans Am (working) & '91 3000GT VR-4 (broken) & '94 3000GT VR-4 (broken)

Actually, you will see the T-Tops on there, thats why I bought the $255 brackets that allow me to attach the T-Tops to the rack rather than trying to stuff them behind my seats. I can't wait to give them a try.

Well, got the rebuilt Trailing Arm assemblies installed this weekend as well as ordered $1700 worth in more parts. They include, but are not limited to, the list below:
This should complete that parts for the rear end. I will wait to see what we need to find parts wise for the front end...
AND YES, I have decided on the Side Pipes. Can't wait to hear it all running again. Been chillin on the jack stands for 5 months now.

That is a hefty list of parts. And those side pipes are going to look damn nice. I hope you have everything up and running again for car weekend. It is getting close. Now that im done with lonestar and got a "real job" i should have some free time, so if you ever need any help installing some of the stuff just give me a shoot out..

So Swish, when you gonna drop $1700 on a blower??? Those side pipes are gonna be the TITS and Kenny should be so lucky to already have them on his Vette. By the way, where are you going to get the rear valance painted? Just Curious. Can't wait to see the finished result of your project. Your Vette looked TITS before and now it will be TITS squared _________________ '95 Trans Am (working) & '91 3000GT VR-4 (broken) & '94 3000GT VR-4 (broken)

Yeah, I can't wait... Not being able to drive it is KILLING me. About getting it painted, I'm not sure yet. I asked Mike if he could do it at the body shop, or if he can't he may be able to get us paint for my dad and I to get 'er dun. But, I'd like to leave this up to a professional in the painting business, unlike myself, because for me to get the paint and those clear coats correct would not be pretty.
Any ideas for places to get the things painted? Not only will it be the rear valance, but it may also be the fiberglass side pipe covers. I bought some high temp aluminum color paint to try and spray the covers first. I have been reading a lot on message boards how the covers get hot enough where normal paint will likely bubble off. So, I may be able to attempt painting the pipe covers, but I would like someone else to paint the rear valance.

OK, I think I can finally see home plate on this rebuild this time around... Until it comes apart for more replacement parts for the front end. But, that probably won't be till this Fall again.
After much sanding, grinding, and fitting, we got the new rear valance piece to fit and cover the old openings. I do not have the piece as of yet as it was sent off to be painted. But I did manage to disassemble the rear end for the easy install of the new piece.
Also, installed the calipers I painted and bled the brake system with the new lines, hoses, calipers, and fluid.
More updates to come... Next, its on to the SIDE PIPES!

Coming along good man. Cant wait to see the side pipes, and the finished product. You got something like 51 days to get it done. The pressure is on man.

Yeah, you'll never believe this... 51 days to put mine back together, take the '78 apart for a trailing arm rebuild and have the side pipes and headers sent away for Jet-Hot coating, and maybe even some spiral turbo baffles instead of the reverse flow mufflers. Thats the battle plan for the '78, all be4 Car Weekend!
