Figured this may be of interest to some people on here. Just found it accidentally reading around on the net.

http://www.blu-ray.com/info/

And I thought a DVD held a LOT of data... we ain't seen nothing yet.

I think I remember reading an article saying there is a competitor to blu-ray...HD(High Density) DVD. Looks like there might be another format war, recalling DVD +/- R from a few years back.

Damn I still havent used my DVD burner to its fullest capabilities yet, and I get to deal with a new format coming out. hmmm. I do like the capacity of the discs though, very nice stuff.

Found this one too.

http://msn.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,124312,00.asp?GT1=7645

I'm not sure about yoou guys, but I have had burned CDs for longer than 5 years and they still work. I mean, its not like I leave them in the blistering sun, but it sounds like this guy is a spokesman for magnetic data storage. Plus, who has magnetic backup in their homes anyways? Well, I do, but thats besides the point, I also have a PBX in my house, IP Phones, and a home built TiVo. Laughing But, for the normal user, magnetic tape is just not practical.
